Police search for robbery suspect that targets elderly women
Detectives with Shreveport Police Department’s Tactical Robbery Unit are searching for a suspect believed responsible for multiple persons robberies at local businesses.
The robberies began in late January on Line Avenue and the last documented robbery occurred last night in the 4600 block of Monkhouse Drive. The suspect initially approached the female victims from behind and would knock them to the ground and take their purses. The suspect has become more violent in the last incidents and is now using a baseball bat to strike his victims and take their purses. On at least one occasion, the suspect took the victim’s car, which was later recovered. The suspect is described as a black male who is approximately 6’00” tall and weighs around 170 pounds. He has worn a black hoodie pulled over his head during the robberies.
The Shreveport police Department is urging everyone to use extra caution, especially when on the parking lots of businesses. Always be alert, keep your head up with keys in hand. Visually scan the parking lot before exiting the business. Please do not allow yourself to be distracted by a cell phone or other things. If you see something suspicious, return to the store and call 911. We are also urging businesses to keep an extra watchful eye on their parking lots and if they see anything suspicious report it to police immediately.
